The Light of Jesus

John 1:9-12 (NKJV)” That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:”

Imagine, you are in a room and all the lights go out. It is so very dark. What are you looking for? What are you hoping for? Light! Any light? No, a light that will chase away the darkness right?

Jesus is the only One who can chase away the sin and darkness in your life and in this world. Continue reading

Menu Plan Monday! Breakfast Edition 11/27

Menu Plan Monday Breakfast EditionHello all! So, I thought that this week I would post a menu plan for dinner and breakfast. Around here, mornings go much smoother if I already know what I am going to make for breakfast. I have worked really hard to get where I am up with the boys in the morning and making breakfast for everyone. I am not a morning person! You can read about that here.

Menu plans are my friend!

Now I am also pretty strict about the kids having both a raw fruit and a raw vegetable for both breakfast and lunch. I usually plan them out for them, or they will eat only carrots and celery and peanut butter. This week I have not done that, just put “fruit” and “veggie”.

Why I Menu Plan

I have only been Menu Planning for about 4 months, but WOW at the changes! Before the school year started I wanted to get more organized. There was so much that needed to be done. I felt like I was constantly rushing around, but not really accomplishing anything. I felt like my house was falling apart. I needed major help!

One of the first and greatest things that I did was to take Crystal Paine’s 14 day course Make Over Your Mornings.

This course was a huge help to me. It got me up earlier and has made my more productive throughout the day. Because I am now up earlier, I can have my quiet time with God, alone, in the quiet! This makes a huge difference in my day. I can also drink a hot cup of coffee, alone, in the quiet!
Next I found this organizer, Mom’s Life Binder. It comes as a PDF so you can pick and choose your pages and use only what you need. There is also a Homeschool version. The main things that I began using was the cleaning schedule and the menu planning.
Before I started menu planning I would have a few ideas of what we were going to have for dinner and would shop for those. I had to buy a lot of extra items to make sure I had plenty of food for all meals. I did not plan breakfast at all so I was buying stuff that we did not need.
By menu planning I can better utilize what I already have in stock. Also I can plan around sales and coupons.
Another huge time saver is, since I already know what I am making, I can better plan for things like defrosting and baking. Plus the kids get a much better breakfast. When I did not have a plan I just went for the easiest thing I could find. Now I make a lot more bacon and eggs, homemade granola and yogurt. I can quickly throw all the eggs and bacon on the griddle and get it all cooked at one time.

Blessings,

Amy

Have you ever tried menu planning? What do you think about menu planning?
