Finding Your Sabbath + A Menu Plan

Finding Your Sabbath

I feel that the Sabbath looks different for each of us. I also think that it means something different for each of us. Some spend them morning and evening at a church, some watch church on TV from home, and some make their own church with worship and rest in their own way.

For me, the Sabbath is a day of rest. A day where I refresh so that throughout the week I can refresh those that I love and care about. So my ideal day is one that is free of cleaning schedules and appointments. I start my day with God and reconnect with Him throughout the day. It is a day spent outdoors and in awe of the beauty that He created for each of us. This refreshes me. Continue reading

Are You Excited About Jesus?

Are You Excited About Jesus? Are You Excited About Jesus?

Life is so busy! We rush through it all so we are able to check things off of our lists and “feel” accomplished. In all this busy we are losing site of the things that are really important; true joy, God’s peace, and being excited about Jesus. We talk about self-care because we are running on empty most days. I do think that self-care and time alone are important, even Jesus went off to be alone, with God, but why are we needing this so badly now?

I think as Christians we want to be excited about Jesus, we want to have joy and peace, but we walk away from our Bibles and devotionals and run into our day of endless cleaning and laundry and kids. Our excitement for what we learned that morning is gone by the time the first bowl of Cheerios hit floor.

Refresh and Refuel + Menu Plan

Happy Monday Morning!

We had such a blessed weekend that helped me to refuel for the week ahead! On Saturday we got started working on the siding for the cabin! Oh my goodness, it is so exciting to be able to do this part ourselves. It is going to be hard work, but oh so beautiful.

All three of us worked on it, and actually had a really good time. I love some good work!

Sunday we took our rest day by heading out to the Chatooga River. In places of such beauty it is easy to see how much the Father loves us! It was exactly what I needed! (I have a pretty busy week planned this week).

This country is teeming with beauty and wonder. Check out your local state parks, go for a hike, go fishing in a river, look for rocks with the kidoes. Get outside for a little while and breathe in the fresh air. Refresh yourselves so that you can pour into others throughout the week.

For the Menu this Week

Sunday: Meatloaf, Oven Roasted Carrots,  & Broccoli Salad

Monday: Creamy Fish Chowder (Pampered Chef recipe book), César Salad, and Roasted Asparagus

Tuesday: Grilled Burgers with Onions and Mushrooms, Grilled Potatoes, Buffalo Roasted Cauliflower

About The Quiet Homemaker

Here at The Quiet Homemaker I aspire to live a peaceful, quiet life as Paul urged the Thessalonians. God has blessed me with an amazing husband and three wonderful boys. He entrusted them into my care and I want to please Him by caring for them in a way that brings Him glory. I want to show them a quiet and peaceful life, where they work with their hands and tend to their own affairs and then reap the rewards of a job well done. The best way to show them this is through my example. Read More…

Relationship Verses Religion: Having God Conversations With Our Children

Relationship verses ReligionRelationship verses Religion

Hi everyone! Welcome back to another guest post from our wonderful friend and fellow blogger Cristine Pina from Honing into Home. Today we are going to be talking about the importance of relationship verses religion. And how having those God conversations with our children is what makes all the difference. I know for me I grew up in a religious home. There were lots of rules and regulations and not very many heart to heart talks about how much my Father in Heaven loves me. It is so important that we give our children the correct view of the Father! Continue reading

The Greatest Blessings + Our Menu Plan

Last week a dear friend and fellow blogger wrote a wonderful post on taking the plunge and giving serious thought to homeschooling our children.

I know and completely understand that there are so many cases where this is just not possible. But if there are two parents in the home, I would urge you to really give homeschooling some thought. Talk with your spouse, other moms who homeschool, and most importantly to God. Trust me, there is not greater blessings than having your child schooled in a Christian environment. To watch them grow, learn, and explore in an environment where they are encouraged to be themselves and not come carbon copy of other children. To see their faith blossom and experience all of the ah-ha moments with them. It is a blessing like not other, and I urge you to consider it and bring it before God. Continue reading
