Your heavenly Father loves you with a perfect and beautiful love. He knows absolutely everything about you, there is nothing you can hide from Him. And He desires for you to understand His love. Do you want to be intentional about accepting God’s abundant love for you?
Step three of accepting God’s abundant love for you is to meditate on the truth that you have gathered during your reading. Most people skip this step. They read their Bible to check something off of their to-do list.
“Meditation is one of the key ways to take yourself from being in the world to being in Christ.”
Stone Soup for Five
There are many ways that you can meditate on the word of God. As you read mark the verses that speak to you. Then use a meditation technique to further analyze you verse.
Here are a few:
- Time with God Bible Study– TQH
- SOAK Method – Good Morning Girls
- Reflection section in Stone Soup for Five FREE Ephesians study (page 9 of the PDF)
- Verse Memorization
It is very important to note here that we are not meditation by emptying our minds, but by focusing and reflecting on small passages of God’s word. We are “filling our mind with the truth of scripture and thinking deeply about it.” Stone Soup for Five
Bible memorization is also very important and a great way to meditate on God’s word.
- You can read short parts multiple times and add on as you memorize;
- Write the verse in pretty letters and decorate it
- Record it and listen to it until it is memorized
- Set it to music
- Or, write them in a journal and pray them (this has been pretty effective for me)
So no matter what method you use make sure to take a few of the verses that you have learned and commit them to memory. Remember, the Spirit speaks to us through scripture. This is also how we will fight against the enemy.
“ 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. ” Ephesians 6:10-13
So really soak in those words, feel the Father’s love for you, and start accepting God’s abundant love for you.
