S - I Samuel 31:6-7
"So Saul, his three sons, his armor bearer, and all his men died together that same day. And when the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley, and those who were on the other side of the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them."
O - What a sad end to Saul's life. He spent the majority of his adult life trying to change the future and being full of anger and vengeance. It ruined his life, his family's life, and his kingdoms.
A - Anger is a tool of satan and we need to make sure that it does not take root in our lives. For once it takes hold it is fierce and hard to get rid of. Keep God close and pray for Him to open your eyes to any anger that is in you. Forgive and let it go!
P - Father, help me to never let this kind of anger take root in my life. Help me to forgive those who have hurt me and let it go. ~Amen
S - I Samuel 30:6
"Now David was realty distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God."
O - This is the kind of chapters that I love to read about David! Strong in faith, letting God lead, and asking for guidance. No fear, just faith.
A - This is how our walk with God should be:
K - Oh Father, help me to follow David's example when adversity strikes!
S - I Samuel 29: 6-7
"Then Achish called David and said to him, 'Surely, as the Lord lives, you have been upright...Nevertheless the lords do not favor you. Therefore return now, and go in peace, that you may not displease the lord's of the philistines."
O - In the last chapter it seemed to me that David was raiding lands and not telling Achish. Actually, he was lying about it. I am not sure where these lands were, or who they belonged to. I have a feeling that during this war he would have somehow switched sides. But maybe he knew he would have to fight the Israelites and this is how God saved him from doing that.
A - If we humbly bring our problems before God, He can help us. No matter how much of a sticky situation we are in, He can give us an out.
P - God whenever I am stuck, not matter how big or small, help me to turn to you first. Give me wisdom and strength and give me a way out. ~Amen
Welcome to our study through I Samuel with The Quiet Homemaker. We are blogging through the Bible with Good Morning Girls. In this study we will read and study one chapter per day during the week. Taking the weekend to spend time with God in a different way. In this study we will use a method, created by GMG called the SOAK method. In this method each letter stands for a different thing to do.
S - Scripture - Write out the scripture that touches you, that you want to dig a little deeper into. You only need one or two verses.
O - Observation - Look at the verse that you chose and write down a few things that you observe. What stands out or what can you learn about this persons character or the character of God? Is there a promise, command or teaching?
A - Application - How can you apply what you have learned to your own life?
K - Kneeling in Prayer - Write out a prayer that pertains to the verse.
I love this way of studying the Bible. I hope that you will join me!
Advent Study Week 3 12/15
“You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
“The Lord your God in your midst, the mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
God is always with us
He is mighty to save
He is happy about you
He loves us
He gives us peace in trials
Rejoices with us in victory
Jesus is love. He loves us so very much. He is always with us and wants to be a part of every part of our lives. He is there constantly, crying with us during our trials and singing during our victories. All we need to do is keep our focus on Him. Let Him work in our lives, mold us into who He meant for us to be. We will be so much happier and joyful if we are in His will for our lives.
My relationship with the Lord is the most important part of my life. I love my Bible study time and love to share this passion with others. If there is any study that you would like to join in please feel free! You can leave comments and I we can discuss together.
